My Kitties - Part II

This is Jack, a shelter adoptee. They said he was 2 when I got him in 2003, but based on the size of his teeth, I think was much older than that.

Yes - Jack has one eye, which is why his name stuck with him (as in One-Eyed Jack). He was also less than 6 pounds. Now he's over 17. That happened in about 2 months time.

Jack lost his eye and gonads in the space of 3 days. Poor guy. Apparently there was a fire at his original owners house and he was left behind. When he was found, his eye was so badly infected it just kind of 'exploded' in his head.

I used to work a lot of very long hours (being newly divorced, I hated coming home and being alone). That meant Caesar spent a lot of time alone too. Feeling neglectful, I got Jack as a companion for Caesar.

Silly me - here I thought they'd become chummy and all friendly with each other, playing real nice and curling up to sleep together. WRONG! I never heard Caesar hiss until Jack showed up. Caesar wants to play nice - Jack plays rough. He's all teeth and claws (as evidenced by the furniture he's ruined). However it is comical to watch Caesar jump off a chair onto and the back of an unsuspecting Jack. My little angel Caesar turned into a flying orange saucer of fur with claws drawn.

Jack has his moments when he can be so loving (he actually sucks his paw when he sleeps) and is very cute. But he's torn up my sofa, my black leather chair, the carpet on the risers of my stairs, and shits on the floor instead of a perfectly clean litter box. He sheds more that Caesar, who is Persian. Anyone want a 17 pound Norweigian Forrest cat? Free! I'll throw in a bag of Iams.

My Kitties

This is Caesar, my 5 year old Persian.
Right now he's sitting on the arm of the sofa next to me, burping his just-eaten meal in my face. In a few minutes he'll leave to go get something to drink, then come back to wipe the water that's all over his chin on to my head.
